The article below talks about the desert horsemen who look for criminals and trouble makers in al AWAFI desert in RAK.  They are unarmed and it’s their job to protect and bring peace.

A Group of horse men in the desert ride to make peace. Over the entire UAE there are unarmed horse patrol divisions to monitor the desert. The horsemen are searching for signs of trouble in the desert. The horses were trained not to be frightened by the people who bother them. The typical horsemen are small and lightweight, and often patrol on Arabian horses. Over 70% of the horsemen are from India and there are no Emirati horsemen except Colonel. Over the year they patrol through the year except hot weather and the school break. Police challenge criminals with the horsemen help. The horse patrol performs an important duty going where only horses can go The horses are well cared for and protected by the horsemen.
People usually underestimate the importance of the role these horse patrols practice and most of those horses are from India which means they should bring more local horsemen riders.

How Bedouin survive in the desert

Nowadays people lives easy life and spend a lot of money to afford water, but the Bedouin survives by searching for water in the desert.
The Bedouin knew every detail how to survive in the wild life by his own developed ability to search where water might be or following birds which others go to the deep valleys looking for rain water. And if the Bedouin found the right place for water might be they dug about 3 to 10 meters which it will take about 4 to 5 month, and who fits the waters the well be named after him. When they reached a dry land and don’t have water they cut the camel stomach for water or they can drink their milk.
The Bedouin is able to stand the dehydration over 5 % and if they reached 10% they will die, which it’s doubled the normal human body.

The traditional Emirate sport culture

The traditional Emirate culture has turned to sport nowadays. Only the Bedouin used it like a traditional culture trying to live his life.
There are many sports taken from the culture like falconry, hunting, horses, camels, dhow and saluki racing. But unfortunately many technologies have appeared in the past few years. And the education has developed while the emirate locals forget their UAE national identity instead learning their culture, even though the influences are getting better nowadays but some youth don’t care about his heritage.
With all those development have desired in the youth of the local, there’s always a place in there hart have his identity which one day it will appears in every local fighting for his UAE culture and traditional.

Facebook is most popular social networking service, and it started in February 2004, Facebook itself is owned by Mark Zuckerberg, Inc. As of July 2011, it has more than 800 million active users in September 2011, and it has more than 2000 employees and offices in the year of 2011.

In October 28, 2003 Mark Zuckerberg hacked to Harvard’s computer network and copied the private dormitory images, so he makes a website called Facemash that included 450 visitors and 22,000 photo-views in the first 4 hours. After a few days later the company was shut down because Mark Zuckerberg have abused and violated copyright and individual privacy. But he dropped the charges, because of his study project that contains social study and art history, wish he helped the students in there study. Zuckerberg began to make a new site called Facebook on February 4 2004, later in March 2004 Facebook developed to Stanford, Columbia and Yale schools, and then it got to Canada and the US. In the summer 2004 Mark Zuckerberg became the company president. In June 2004, Facebook moved its place from operations to Palo Alto, California. And it resaved its first investment form PayPal wish domain the name Facebook in 2005 for $200,000 .So, it begin to receive many users till August 26,2008 it receives 100 million users in the past 1665 days and it kept developing till now in September 22/2011 it had 800 million users. The company has divided itself into many ownership wish makes Mark Zuckerberg gets 24% from his company wish is the rest of the company gets 76%. In 2006 Facebook profit reached $52million and it is still raising till now it get about $4.27 billion which means that Mark Zuckerberg at 27 years old is worth $1024.8million.
If you want to join Facebook then you must register before using the site, after which they may create a personal profile, add other users as friends, and exchange messages, including automatic notifications when they update their profile. Additionally, users may join common-interest user groups, organized by workplace, school or college, or other characteristics, and categorize their friends into lists such as "People from Work" or "Really Good Friends”. And if you don’t want some friends see your pictures or comments there are always a privacy that you can control. Facebook workers discovered that most of the users are between 18-34 years old wish is about 52% from all the other users. Till now Facebook have helped lots of people and governments, by sharing news and getting their votes, there are lots of good stuff but unfortunately there are also bad stuff like many friends breakup and divorced. And some commit suicide wish of their secrets life in Facebook.

In my opinion Facebook is a good social networking and it disserves what it get because they developed 800million people to get access around the world by a simple touch, and without Facebook, it will be harder to connect to your friends and your relatives.

Reflection

Reflection

In September 2011, we started to take Academic Reading and Writing; with Mr. Gregory .in the beginning was great then it got harder, we improved all kinds of writing like summaries, essays and reports.
First we learned about writings that we took and it was a lot, things like summaries that we’ve done such as Ramadan, Masdar, how Bedouin survive in the desert and the Emirati culture and traditional sports. The next assignment was the essays each student in the class has to choice a topic to write about, it was easy for me because my topic is about Facebook and it’s the easiest topic. The report was about the Ritz Carlton Hotel. I got most of the information and knowledge from this class it helped me in my study more than any other subjects, like doing the outline in the report.  When we finish a report or essay we suppose to put a citation in any sentence that belong to who say it but I don’t, plus the references, we bring this information from the site bibme.com and change the font to APA. Mr. Gregory teaches us how to open a profile in Blogger and put our projects into the web.
finally we are in the end of this semester and we learned a lot of things form hand writing and internet, thanks to Mr. Gregory for the his supporting us to be successful students and for teach us what is useful and helpful staff, I glad that all students benefited from the improvement in the Academic reading and writing to help them in the rest of the other subjects and life.
